Exposició 'Dones del món, llar i feina a Barcelona'

Sant Rafael Pavilion and gardens
Friday 12 June - 12:45

The United Nations University Institute on Globalization, Culture and Mobility (UNU-GCM) portrays the lives of immigrant women in Barcelona in this exhibition, which will run in the Sant Rafael Pavilion and gardens until 31 August.

The exhibition includes photographs of women of differentorigins, ages, educations and occupations to explore the ways in which aspects of migration are interwoven with the issue of gender in an urban context. With this approach, the snapshots contrast the living and working conditions of the first generations of women immigrants resident in Barcelona.

The project combines oral history with documentaryphotographs to create representations of each woman. Taking the homes and work as central places in the lives of the women featured, the exhibition explores theirexperiencesof leaving their homes and crossing borders, celebrating traditionsin a new country, the creationof new identities, integration, etc.

The exhibition is organised in the framework of the congress on Female Agency, Mobility and Socio-cultural Change.
