Obdara Trio

Pau Gil Hall
Sunday 11 February - 19:00

Obdara Trio will be offering a repertoire on the themes of Cuban popular and cultured music in a tribute to famous Caribbean musicians such as Ignacio Cervantes, Enresto Lecuona and Leo Brouwer, as well as including original works by Cuban composers Eduardo Martín and Wilfredo Domínguez.

Their repertoire, which includes original pieces and variations on popular compositions, offers an original recreation of traditional genres in Caribbean music, like son, cha-cha-chá and bolero, performed and arranged according to the sounds and techniques of classical music. At the same time, faithful to the permeability of popular music, they are also influenced by modern genres such as jazz, blues or funk, recreating a wide range of sounds ranging from afro to oriental.

Obdara Trio is made up of guitarist and composer Walfrido Domínguez (Cuba), guitarist Farid Bechara (Colombia) and clarinettist Bartolomé García-Plata (Spain). The group was created in June 2012 and released its first disc, Los tres golpes, in 2014.
